“You’ve got what it takes to weave those shiny dreams of yours into a beautiful tapestry. Don’t let fear unravel you. You got this.” Jenna Kutcher

This is exactly what I needed to hear today and wanted to share in case you needed to hear it too. I’ve been following and listening to Jenna Kutcher for years now. I’ve loved watching her journey in becoming an entrepreneur and growing her own business. She is a true inspiration. I think what initially drew me to her was that she was a fellow small town photographer, from the midwest, building her dream life. She was relatable!

Relatability leads to connection and understanding. I believe it’s what drives us to pay attention to specific causes or follow certain individuals on social media. It’s when you have that “me too” or “I’m not the only one” moments. Relatability brings us together and makes us feel accepted.

Feeling accepted and worthy is something most of us want to experience. We often change aspects about ourselves in order to fit in or be liked. We fear that in being our true selves we may be disliked or we may get made fun of. I know I’ve felt like this more times than I can count.

I have let fear drive my decisions, shape how I act and present myself—& every time I do, it leaves me wondering “what if”. What if I would have just put myself out there and let go of any preconceived notions of what people may think about me? What if I would have made conversation with the lady in the Target line who looked like she was having a bad day? What if I would have applied for that job that “I wasn’t quite qualified for”? The what if game is a stealer of joy and happiness. It is something I work to minimize in my life. It takes practice and awareness, but once you do it it feels as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. “The truth is, underneath all of your hesitation and skepticism, there’s this bright woman/man who knows she’s/he’s got what it takes.” So let go of all your “what if’s” and your fears and just be YOU!

This is a reminder to myself as much as it is to anyone else who needs to hear it—be yourself. Stop letting other’s opinions of you hold you back from following your dreams and becoming the person you were meant to be.

“Choose yourself. Choose possibilities. Choose to soar.” -Jenna Kutcher
