I’m back from another hiatus & dropping photos & a crazzzy story from one the most underrated National Parks in the U.S. imo⁣⁣

Big Bend National Park⁣⁣
⁣
We spent 3 full days exploring this gem deep in Southwest Texas & it did not disappoint.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It is the ONLY National Park to house an entire mountain range—the Chisos mountains—& is home to a large swath of the Chihuahuan Desert, Santa Elena Canyon, parts of the Rio Grande, limestone canyons, hot springs & miles upon miles of hiking with unbeatable views.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
With its location on the Mexican border, temperatures soar in the summer & it is HOT 🥵 The best time to visit is October through April with March being the busiest month.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The park has 3 main sections, each with their own incredible views – Rio Grande Village, Chisos Basin and Santa Elena Canyon. Chisos basin was my favorite.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here are a few trails we recommend in each section of the park *[Save for later]*:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1. Lost Mine Trail⁣⁣
2. The Window Trail⁣⁣
3. Santa Elena Canyon Trail⁣⁣
4. Boquillas Canyon Trail⁣⁣
5. Ernst Tinaja Trail⁣⁣

Now for that crazzzy story—On our way to Ernst Tinaja Trail, we ended up finding out— by pure necessity I might add—that rock mode in our Jeep works 🙈!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We decided to take the long route to Ernst Tinaja Trail via Ole Ore Road from the North thinking it would be a good way to see more of the park—the map & signs said 4x4 required which we encountered frequently during our adventures around Utah so we thought it would be no problem. We assumed it would just be an unmaintained gravel/dirt road, maybe some big ruts, but nothing too crazy.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Y’all 🫣 we were so wrong & what we thought would be a pleasant afternoon drive turned into steep rocky road, bouldering & legit rock climbing with our Jeep 🙈 we had zero service, temperatures rose to over a hundred degrees & I thought for sure we were going to pop a tire, roll the Jeep, or break down & be stuck in the desert for days.⁣

“Daily Reminder: You are absolutely capable of creating the life that you can’t stop thinking about. Stop living in your head and stop doubting yourself. Make it happen!”

Self-doubt is a part of being human. It’s a defense mechanism and our brains way of protecting us—from failure, embarrassment, heartbreak, etc. However, it’s also strongly driven by fear which prevents us from achieving EXCELLENCE and creating the life we can’t stop thinking about.

If you’re struggling with self-doubt, here are 6 ways to overcome it:
1. Identify your limiting beliefs—once you identify what’s holding you back, you can adjust your mindset. This will allow you to be more confident in your abilities.
2. Change your self-talk—our words create our reality…even the ones you just think in your head.
3. Focus on your desires—when you re-focus your attention away from fear and onto what you desire that’s when your life leaps from ordinary to extraordinary.
4. Surround yourself with support—minimize relationships that bring negativity into your life and surround yourself with people who lift you up. If you don’t know anyone personally that can provide you with the support you need, there are so many great communities online that you can join.
5. Take action—set real, actionable goals. It’s okay to start small, but you HAVE TO start.
6. Build resilience—setbacks are a part of life. Take time to evaluate the lessons you learn through the hardships, then get back up and keep going.

If I would’ve chosen to stay in a life of perpetual self-doubt, I would have never discovered the beauty of travel, I would’ve never met my incredible husband nor would I have learned the countless lessons that have shaped me into the woman I am today.

Doubting yourself is normal, letting it STOP you is a choice.

✨Choose to be happy

In 2017, I let go of society’s timeline of what “life should look like” & started designing the life I dreamed of. I began taking solo trips around the globe and through that process discovered the REAL me.⠀
 It was during one of these trips that I met the man of my dreams, Carl. He came into my life when I least expected it & it has turned into the greatest blessing I could have ever asked for.⠀

From road trips to global explorations, travel is what brought us together and has continued to play a vital role in our relationship and journey together.⠀
⠀
We met in the place that captured both of our hearts 🏔 and It has been such a joy to reflect back on how our journey together has come full circle—from meeting in Denver in 2017 to getting engaged in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2019 and FINALLY celebrating our special day with those we love at the beautiful @sprucemountainranch in the mountains of Colorado this year.⠀

10 ways to style a bandana for the outdoors:

1. Headband—this is my favorite way to wear my @hemlockgoods bandana. It helps keep my hair out of my face and elevate whatever outfit you are wearing

2. Neck tie (Western style)—I’ve been wearing this style more lately. It’s very outdoors chic in my opinion

3. Backwards neck tie—this option is great for when your hair is pulled up into a pony tail or bun because it helps protect the skin on your neck and upper back from the sun ☀️

4. Face covering—for when those big gusts of wind kick up dust, OVH vehicles drive by, if something smells stinky...you get the gist

5. Headscarf (90’s style)—perfect for any throwback look you are going for. It also helps to keep your hair out of you face or contained if it gets windy 🌬

6. Hair tie—forget a hair tie? Here’s your solution or add it on top of your hair tie for the perfect way to jazz up your ponytail

7. Neck tie—my 2nd favorite way to wear a bandana. It’s classy, timeless and can also help to absorb any sweat during your hike

8. Belt loop tie—spice up your denim with this style. Belts can be uncomfortable to hike in so this option is a great alternative to accessorize your shorts or pants

9. Camera or bag accessory—tie on your camera strap or the handle of your backpack/bag that way it’s handy if you need it for anything while out on the trail

10. An all around lifesaver 💁🏼‍♀️—when you are in a pinch on the trail this can be used for a multitude of purposes such as a towel, tourniquet, sling, trail marker or a gift to a new friend. The options truly endless.
